Help me find a surgeon?

I am five years post-op and doing great.    My husband is around 550 lbs (we don't have a scale that works for him), and we can't find anyone who will consider him at his current weight.  The two that we've contacted have limits of 400 and 450 lbs.  Does anyone out there know of a doctor in Virginia who might consider him for surgery?  He is otherwise healthy.

I could go on and on . Everyone has their own love for their surgeon and rightly so , but this man is awesome and he was the President for the ASBS for years . He has been featured on TLC and The Discovery Channel for helping bariatric patients who where over 500 pounds . He is located in Richmond Va . Have you tried Dr Bruce Schirmer @ UVA 434-924-2104 ask to speak w/ Mary she might be on vacation this week you may call nexk week or call  Anna Miller @ 434-924-5852 she is his Nurse cord. if you dont reach her try Janet Dix his physician asst. @ the # @ the top,if you need assistance ASAP  but Anna or  Mary should be able to answer you questions dont talk to anyone else.

Sarah,  I'd highly recommend Dr. Hutcher that Natalie mentioned above.  He did my husband's surgery.  My husband started out at 497, but Dr. Hutcher required him to lose 45 pounds before he would perform his surgery.  Dr. Hutcher told me the greatest potential for complications is in very large men.  I would absolutely trust him with my life.  He can also work with your husband to lose a little weight, if necessary, before he does the surgery. I adore my Surgeon and staff , Dr. Osvaldo Anez in Fairfax, VA and is Staff, Physicians Assistant Tiffany Cook and Nutritionist Sally Myers at Obesitysurgerycenter.net. He performs surgery at Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, VA which is a center of Excellance for Bariatric Surgery. You probibly already know from your experience that it's best to use a hospital that is a Center of Excellance. Dr. Anez is one of the best surgeons in the country and has  some of the lowest complication rates nationally, that's why I chose him. I have received impeccable care through the whole process. I'll be 1 year out in November with no complications, what so ever. Please consider giving his office a call! He may very well accept patients over 400 lbs.

Although not in Virginia, I highly recommended Drs. Von Reuden and Moein at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Maryland.  I know of 2 patients in my support group who started at 625 and 590.  Best of luck to your husband.
