Hey Courtney - I like romantic dramedies (drama/comedies) but cannot seem to read like Mom does with those Gone With The Wind type books. Good grief! LOL! Anyhow those books sound good as well. Another I have read that is GREAT about relationships is called Men Are Like Waffles Women Are Like Spaghetti! Great read! Hope you are doing great....hugs to you!

Courtney- If you and your Sweetie like the Love Languages book, there is also another once called something like the Five Lanugages of Conflict that is a partner book with it....I hear it's pretty good. ALSO, a book that I really thought spoke volumes about a having a great marriage relationship (and wished Don and I could have put into practice) was a book called "I Promise".  Good stuff.

Thanks Christina.  With the bit of talking we did the other night we are pretty sure we do love in different styles and think it would be a good book for us.  A conflict one sounds good too.  I believe there is on children too.  We are working on the growth of our faith too and these all sound like great books for us.

Hey Kat I am reading Red Letters by Tom Davis. Which so far, is awesome. But also catching up on some Bible verses, as I have changed my life to church, and bible study. It is amazing that all life's answers are in the Bible. I love alot of James Patterson, Dean Knootz, Mary Higgins Clark, anything with suspense. Have a great weekend.

Hi there - you are right about that. Life's answers ARE in the Bible. I have been brought up in a VERY Christian/faith based family and slipped away from God during certain times of my life but have found my way back to Him. WITH Him life has taken on new meaning and the answers, support and foundation have always been there I just needed to see them again. Suspense is good too. I love mysteries! Take care....

Oooooo BOOKS! I LOVE to read.  At age 4 or 5 I kept spelling words out for my Mom to tell me what they were.  Apparently they were some strange words, so she looked at my reading material.  It was an article in a periodical like Time or Newsweek which would ordinarily be fine right?  The title of the article was Nine Hours in Hell with a Dope Addict.  At a very young age I knew all the slang terms for drugs! Anyway, if you like southern writers, try Charles Martin. His writing is very evocative and heart tugging.  My favorites of his were When Crickets Cry and The Dead Don't Dance (the sequel, Maggie, is not as good).  Also, I don't think you can beat Pat Conroy for southern writing.  My favorite is Beach Music. When I'm looking for easy relationship stories with southern settings, I drift into novels by Anne Rivers Siddons, but I think I've read all of them. I just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author of the Kite Runner (Khalid Hosseini).  He tells an okay story with some good insights into the extremes of personalities. It reminded me that you never know what lies behind a person's seemingly bad "mood". Currently reading a Nelson DeMille book.

I am reading "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks.  I just started it.  I loved his other ones. I love James Patterson books also.

I had to reply to this thread as I've been off line since yesterday morning because I've been READING!!  :)  I'm currently in the middle of the Love Comes Softly series by Janette Oke.  I LOVE her stuff.  This is not my first time thru this series by any means.  I love to re-read my favorites - and do quite frequently.  Seems everytime thru, I find something new I have never noticed before.   Another series I love is the Mitford series by Jan Karon.  She has a new book coming out soon that I'm looking forward to reading.  Hmmmm...that reminds me, I need to hop over to her website to see when it is scheduled for release.   Happy reading!!
