Got home from Hospital on Friday - still a little sore though.  Does weight loss show up at some point in time?  People tell me I look like I have lost but the scales don't show it. Any advice?

I have no idea when weight loss shows up with Lap Band. I had the open bypass and it took about 5 days before the fluids went down and suddenly I was down 19lbs on day 6.   My stomach was also swollen for awhile but people said my face was slimmer

Well not a lap bander here either so I can't really help as for that weight loss question.  Just wanted to say hi, glad to hear you are home & recovering.  Welcome to the losing side.

My advice is to have a friend hide the scale and then help you take all your measurements. Then, measure your success by how you lose inches. Get weighed no more often than once a week (or two).  I understand your eagerness to lose as fast as possible, but weighing too often runs the risk of letting your daily weight control what you do. Instead, follow the guidelines of your doc and your nut, and you will lose. Joe Bear

Congratulations! Sorry you are still sore. I****chin my best frend go thru this I saw that she had to wait on the swelling from the hospital to go down at first as well as did I after RNY. Just stick to the rules and you will see the lbs and inches fall off. Alot depends on the band size and restriction used at surgery time as to how fast you see the results. Just relax and allow your body to adjust to what it has been thru. You will suceed with determination and you drs orders. Best Wishes! shannon

you need to join http://www.lapbandtalk.com/ where other lapbanders are and get a tape measure. you can't go by the scales!
