WLS Support Group @ Mary Washington Hospital-Dr. Stelmack Group

PLEASE, no one confuse this posting with the group that meets on Butler Rd on Wednesday. There is a group that meets at Dr. Victor Stelmack's office at Mary Washington Hospital in the Tompkins Plaza part of the complex. How congenial is the group to "outsiders"? When I called the Doctor's office throughout the summer, in a nutshell, they weren't interested in me because I had had the surgery elsewhere. In addition, bariatric surgery wasn't being done there and now they have restarted. I know of one other person who has also had WLS and we both want to go to the meeting tonight, Tuesday at MWH, but are afraid of the reception we might get. Any thoughts out there? Diana PS. The group that meets tomorrow night  on Butler Rd. is WONDERFUL and open to ALL! Pre, post op, no matter who or where you had or are contemplating having WLS with.

No, I didn't go. However one of the ladies who attended the Fredericksburg VA group on Wednesday night said she had and that the group at MWH was more of a pre op informative type of meeting.

I spoke to Deanna last night - she is the nutritionist there and she says they do have some dates set but nothing was really up and running properly. For the hospital and surgery part they will only accept their own patients -  for the support group will be open to all - BUT may not remain that way once the group is up and running properly - it was still questionable.......
