Insurance Company Requiring Documentation...

Hi All: I have a friend who is all set to go on her WLS, except that her insurance company told her today that she has to provide proof from Weigh****chers that she attended for a period of 6 months sometime during the last 2 years.  She had attended for 7, but threw her booklet away some time ago...and their corporate office says they don't have those records, that they purge every 2 weeks or something along those lines. This is the ONLY thing holding up her surgery.  Does anyone have any ideas for her?  Anyone else run into this problem?  If she can't document this, she has to join it again (or another one I am guessing) and come back in 6 months.... Any help is appreciated! Cindy

I was in a similiar situation.  I could not find all my WW books, but thank goodness I had been mentioning it to my PCP at each visit.  So, my insurance company accepted the specific notes that my doctor had discussing my WW efforts.  Hope this helps.

Perhaps insurance will accept sworn statements from her, the local WW leader, and maybe a friend who was with her at WW meetings. Worth a try. Joe Bear

What about payment records?

Thanks, Everyone! I spoke to her this morning, and she said that she spoke with the insurance company again, and they HAVE TO HAVE her book (that they stamp each week) -- will not accept anything else.  Unfortunately, payment records, etc. won't work.  I spoke to the WW leader today, and they don't keep records at the center any longer than 5 weeks unless you are a Lifetime member, and then it is a year.  So, for anyone getting things together for insurance companies, this might be something to keep in mind. Again, thanks everyone, for your input!  Cindy
