Yeah!! A fellow bandster!!! We seem to be the minority here but that's ok...we are still loved!
I had mine in July. In case you weren't told, you won't be getting your first fill for several weeks yet. It takes awhile for your body to adjust to having that "thing" in your belly. Stick to the purees until told differently by your wl team & Nut. There seems to be variation as to when you can introduce solid foods, depending which doctor you have, so rely on YOUR team for the absolutes. You may notice mood swings...I sure did (my poor hubby). I learned that they were from hormones stored in the fat cells I lost going haywire. It will pass. When you do go for your first fill, I suggest you consume only liquids the day before or of your first fill. I went in for mine right after having breakfast & had to postpone until the next week...nobody told me not to eat anything solid!!! MY doctor's orders was liquids for two days following my fill & not to plan any trips until a week after a fill in case there's a problem. It would be much better to be treated by your own doctor rather than on some stranger far from home. It all makes perfect sense, but I wasn't told any of this...had to learn the hard way.
I only recently learned of a new tool, available on the internet & free, called fitday.com. You can track everything you eat, all your exercise, set up goals, track your weight loss, nutrients...just all kinds of helpful things. I wish I'd known about this sooner so since you're new, I highly recommend this to you now.
Our weight loss is at a much slower rate than for those that have had bypass so do not feel discouraged when you read about others losing 5, 10, 15 or more lbs in a month & you don't. We're not supposed to, actually. It should be a slow, steady progression & as long as we don't backslide & gain back, we're ok.
Last but certainly not least (I try to leave the best for last), come here often, share, vent, rejoice, encourage, applaud, pray, all you want & can. We are a very loving, caring, supportive group of gals & guys here & we welcome newcomers with open arms. Before long, you will have a whole slew of extended family & most definately new friends.
So take it easy at first...no lifting anything over 10 lbs for awhile, chew, chew, chew, & sip, sip, sip! Welcome to the Loser's Bench!!!!
