Has it really been.....

6 months since my lap RNY? Why yes, yes it has! Today is my 6 month surgiversary. And while there has been bumps, hill, mountains and turns to overcome, I could not be happier with anything in my life and where it is going and what is happening.

Monday I had my 6 month post op check up with Dr Bautista's office. I saw Jeannine, the nurse practitioner and things are going great, for the most part. I am FINALLY under 200, coming in at 198. That is a total of 120 lbs gone in 6 months. The weight loss has slowed down a bit, but then again, so has my exercise, lol. I was told that the slowing down of the weight is definitely normal and to not worry. I am still having some trouble with eating, well eating enough and making the absolute best choices when I do eat. But I am seeing someone to help me get through my issues with food so it should only get better. The only other thing I have to work on is my iron, which is 3 points below the low limit and my vitamin D is slightly normal. So I have to take iron supplements for the next 3 months til my next check up and I have to take an extra vitamin A & D daily. The rest of my labs are great so far! And since my A1-C is now 6, from 13.7 in April, pre surgery, my doctors are calling my diabetes in remission! Wow!!!

I am loving the way my life is going. Great friends & family and I am trying to surround myself with people that only bring out the better in me. School has restarted and I have refound my love for hair and design and eagerly excited about looking forward to the possibility of having a career in doing something I love. Six months ago, I do not think I would have even had the desire or energy to do anything like going back to school, much less been physically able too. Funny how drastic your life can improve. You are often told, during the pre surgery process, how much this surgery and lifestyle can improve your overall health and life afterwards but honestly, one probably isn't able to honestly know just how significant those words are and how true they can be. I thank God every day for this surgery, for him guiding me through it, for guiding my surgeon's hands and for allowing Dr Bautista to take my life into his hands and do nothing but improve it. Thanks to everyone here who has supported me or encouraged me through the last 6 months. I am so looking forward to the next 6, and then the next 6 and many, many more 6 nmonths after that.......
Hugs everyone!!

Good am Theresa,

Congratulations on 6 months and 120 lb lost thus far! I'm glad you are seeing someone to help you with your eating issues. It does wonders to see/get an outside perspective that is objective and beneficial. Its better to address issues as they arise instead of putting them off. :) Glad that your A1-C levels are healthier. Enjoy your blessings and to pay it forward!

Theresa,

That is AWESOME!!!!!  You are doing great.  Keep up the great work and don't get discouraged because the weight lose has slowed, it will pick back up again.  I know that exercising will increase my weight lose, it always does, but it doesn't make it any easier to do it.

I am so happy for you that your A1-C levels have dropped so much!  It gives me hope.  My PCP took me off of all my diabetes and blood pressure meds earlier this month and I am hoping that my A1-C levels come back around 6 as well.

Just keep focusing on making yourself as healthy as you can and you will get there.  I am proud of you for taking the step and realizing you need to talk to someone about your food issues. You are an inspiration!!!!!

Congrats on the 120 lb loss and making it to onederland!  Remember those that have helped you along the way and try to help others along the remainder of your journey.  Good luck with restarting school.  I know it was a bummer to have to withdraw and then restart with being sick...but at least you will be up to speed and not have a ton of make up work!  I know when Kara has to miss a day it seems like a weeks worth of work to make up just for one day missed!  I am super glad that you are seeing someone about the eating issues.  I think it is important to stay on top of things.  Keep up the good work!!!!

Thats an awesome weight loss Theresa, and I am so happy about your diabetes being in remission, that is something to rejoice about.  We have an awesome God and he takes care of all his children, I don't know where I would be without him in my life everyday.  Keep up the good work and take  it easy when you go back to work. Thanks for posting.

Girl I'm so proud of you I could bust! I can't believe it's been 6 months either!

Good luck with the eating issues - I so feel you on that one. When are you going to come Zumba with me?
