ALRIGHT ! ALRIGHT! You guys win!!! No spaghetti o's for me!!!!!  I was in a weak moment!!!   Hubby made gumbo for me and I just had the liquid part....It was very yummy!!!!  I am trying to learn to eat better foods...and I really do like the shakes but after having one for almost every meal....grrrr is what I think when it is time to eat again So I am going to try some of these wonderful things you have all suggested...I must admit....I do not know how to "make" soup.  It has always come from a can I am getting in all the protein with no problem.....I am wondering at what point is to much...my shakes I make are at least 50 grams EACH.....so I have started only having them once a day...that may have some to do with wanting other stuff....the other 2 meals are pudding or jello. Water on the other hand has not been good..I have no problems getting it down...it is forgetting to drink it and when I do think about it...it is about time to eat or I have just eaten and have to wait.... I am really happy, you guys, dont think I am not!  I will be even happier when I get through this stage..it is just a few days longer....plus I am on NANO's team...she will be a slave driver HAHAHA Thank you for all the GREAT responses...YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!!

hey Jen, that means we are on the same team....:)  Woo hoo....p.s.  I am certainly no cook but these were more just combining things to come up with something tasty and nourishing.....btw.....I am 99.9% sure that I learned post-op that our bodies cannot absorb more than 25-30 gms. of protein at a time, (this was directly from my nut and has been corroborated here).  The rest is just "moved on" if you get my drift.....you may want to cut back a bit on those shake amounts.....cheers!  Gail

I'm not a big fan of 'traditional' canned soup, either, and homemade is definitely the way to go, but i wanted to toss another option our there.  Have you tried the 'better' soups, Progresso is the one that jumps in to my mind but there are others.  In the past I wouldn't buy them because I thought it was just too much to pay for a can of soup (of course, I could spend $7 at McDonald's - screwed up priorities!).  At this point, however, a can of soup will last you for days and YOU'RE WORTH IT!  If you don't have the time to make it, check out the better soups.  There are some that are very low carb, as well.

HAPPY SLURPING
At or below goal since 5/08....without mal-absorption!

I promise, veggie/chicken soup is easy to make and hard to "eff" up. Step One: Get a LARGE can of Swansons low sodium chicken broth. Step Two: Get a Leek, clean it, cut up the green stems, and boil them in your broth. Once it boils, strain out the leeks (you don't wanna eat this part) and save the broth. You'll have yummy flavor. Alternatively, you can use green onions, just the green stem part, and not strain it. Step three: Add your  favorite veggies. I like onion, zucchini, cabbage, leeks, celery, and tomatoes (Canned), and fresh mushrooms, which I throw in at the end. Step three(A): If you want meat, I like to get a rotisserie chicken, and cut the breast meat up really small, or even shred my chicken, and throw that in. Step four: Simmer. Don't really let it boil. Step five (optional): let it cool a bit, then puree your veggies, and you have a DELICIOUS veggie broth. I also like to season it with Kosher salt, and if I need to add water, I throw in a few boullion cubes.

Leeks look like giant green onions...they're a little more mild in flavor though. :D when you use the white part, slice it really really thin. :) LEEKS!!!
