Calling all helpful losers (said with love)...
Cathy-
I loved having Dr. Joya doing my sleeve. But not having a solid plan of attack post surgery is catching up to me. When I checked out of the hospital I got a couple 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper scantly explaining what to do during the "stages." I think I am either going to have to hire a chef to cook our meals or drive everyone crazy here by asking too many basic questions... ; )
Please remember there are *good fats* and *bad fats*! See THIS LINK. There are 3 pages to go through at this link ... make sure to read all 3 by clicinkg *next*.
This is a good resource for dietary information .... the Diet section at WebMD.
Also, very low carb diets are very controversial. Be sure to do your research and be followed by your PCP as you continue on this journey.
Just wanted to comment that I mostly do as Ros-Mari does: just go for protein first, veggies second. If you follow that, you won't have room to eat anything too bad! I don't worry much about fat; however, I do use skim milk (because I prefer it), a little olive oil instead of butter, low fat yogurt. No skin on chicken, but full fat cheese. Like Ros-Mari said, we eat so little, even at 10 mos. out, that the fat in a couple of ounces of meat or cheese is probably a good thing! I don't and haven't worried about ketosis at all...

If you have a pre-conceived diet plan ??? Throw that Idea right out the window !
( At least till you know what your new system will "ALLOW" you to eat. )
And as Odd as it sounds.. Your tastes may very well change !! SO .. DO as your surgeon has perscribed you to do.. (follow it to the best of your ability..)
You will have a whole new learning curve ahead of you..

Mr. ex-Meat and potatoes. I am Mr. Fried food and cheese. I have never liked fish (except Sushi) and the only Veggie I like is Asparagus.... I am going to have to learn healthy eating (considering I NEVER ate healthy in the past). I am glad to hear you actually developed a taste for the food...It gives me hope that I can develope a taste for it too... : ).... Jay
Here's the deal with me. The only thing I really worry about it the amount of protein and the amount of water I am getting in every day. I can only eat such a small amount, that by the time I eat a little protein, and I do mean "a Little" I seldom have room for anything else. Be sure to take your vitamins for all the rest.
