Venting Again!

Ok I am now 3 weeks out as of today and I have kost a total of.....  drumroll..... 1.8 lbs in 2 WEEKS!!!!  I know I will loose but stalls are the PITS!  I am being good keeping my carbs down etc but not really loosing (about 1 lb a week)
Starting tomorrow I am doing the Daily Plate and see if I can catch my problem.  I have NEVER been sucessfull with any diet that requires counting because I am not organized in the least and it is required.  The only "diet" that has worked for me in the past was Adkins because you just eat certain foods. Hopefully I can keep track of this and get the weight moving soon.  Wish me luck.

I am assuming you have started mushies at this point.  Most of us stall once we begin eating foods again.  I was totally convinced I was the only one that VSG would fail as I stalled from days 10- 35.  I lost not one ounce during that period- almost 4 weeks!  As you can tell from my ticker I have not failed with the VSG.  I am smaller than I have ever been in my adult life.

You might put in a call to your surgeon and/or his nutritionist.  Maybe they have some words of wisdom for you.  However, I really don't think you are doing anything wrong.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I am on solids as of this week.  Mushies last so maybe that is it.  THANKS I allways appreciate kind words. So you stalled 4 weeks at the beginning?  And then you started losing again?  How3 fast once you started moving?

As soon as I went from liquids to mushies, I stalled immediately.  I just started losing again as my body has made the adjustment to food again.  I knew it was going to happen so I didn't fret too much.  I am glad it picked up again with the losing.  I have lost 30 pounds so far but I am also including the 2 weeks preop diet because that alone was 10 pounds.  I don't want to discount that!!!   I go to solid food next Thursday so I think my weight loss will be even better because I will focus on more protein than the mushie carbs.

Once your body gets adjusted, things will kick in and you will be on the road to losing.  You may need to do some walking or some form of exercise.  Your metabolism might need a kick start to get the ball rolling.  I would definitely check with a nutritionist as suggested previously.  Good luck to you and keep us all posted as to your success!!!

I seem to lose in chunks.  It seems I stay the same for days and then lose 2 or 3 pounds.  I am not a fast loser, have never been a fast loser.  There is no way to predict how your body will respond to the new diet you are eating.
At this point your poor body is in total shock.  You just had the majority of an organ removed and stapled closed.  Then, you quit eating!  Your body is convinced it is in a major famine and that it better hang on to every calorie to preserve life in case the famine gets worse.  Once your body figures out that you will indeed give it a steady source of nutrients it will begin giving up the pounds.  Our bodies were designed to preserve body functions during our early ancestry when food was an uncertain resource.  Some of us just have more efficient bodies than others (hence my 25 day stall immediately post-op.)
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I also had the dreaded 3 week stall and then another one at 6 weeks.  But I followed all the rules, it is disheartening.  Don't despair, follow the rules, watch your card, drink plenty of liquids and the weight will start moving.  Remember the tortoise won the race - slow by steady always wins in the end.

I am 4 weeks out and haven't weighed the last two weeks because I went to visit a friend and went out to eat and am afraid to weigh now. I did eat small portions but am still scared. I lost 30 pounds from pre-op to the two weeks after surgery.  I have a dr. appt. on the 24th so I am trying to be very good until then. Christi
