Gas X & Benefiber - After surgery??
Hi, Heather.
Gas X strips (cinnamon-flavored) worked well for me. My surgeon recommends the gentle over-the-counter MiraLax (laxative and stool softener), an unflavored powder that you can mix into most anything.
Blessings,
Mary

Before surgery I was "normal," however, now I've got to work to avoid constipation. My regime is 4t of Benefiber a day, plus trying to get in 64 oz of water. Also, if I start feeling "bloatie" I've got Gax X pills to use. In addition, it really helps me to eat Kashi cereal (the "twig" version). It's high in protein and helps to keep things going at a regular pace. When I don't eat the Kashi, I seem to have problems. Also, for me to get in my protein I do eat more low fat cheese, which only adds to the problem.
I do swear by my benefiber and Kashi. I haven't had to take a stool softner yet...knock on wood. I will say I did buy a bottle just in case, though I'm hoping I never have to use em.
