None of my business I know. But I would like to suggest that you look at the 2 Dr. A's - Dr. Alvarez - my surgeon or Dr Aceves (SP) - both have done several hundred sleeves. Experience is the key for any surgeon. When you think about it, doing some many over the years just about guarantees that they have seen and worked through just about every different scenario that comes in the human anatomy.
Dr. Alvarez did an awesome job for me. I have had NO complications - lost 57 pounds in 10 weeks.

Verboonen's partner Dr Ponce de Leon put in my band for $8500, it eroded, and Dr. Verboonen took it out...for a fee ($3500). He offered to replace the band again, or do a sleeve on me if I'd go back to Tijuana in 4 weeks after removal...for another fee of course...(a "discounted" fee of only $5000 for a new band or $12,500 for a vsg not including travel, hotel, etc.) since I was "their patient and all the discount was the least they could do for me"... By the time it was over they'd done enough for me...for a fee.
I've learned through research that my band eroded likely because the team for obesity goodbye put a fill in it when they put it on instead of waiting the usual month to 6 weeks for it to heal first before filling.
I had to make 3 trips for 2 to mexico, one for the band placement, one where they tried to do a fill for a $150 fee, then had to do an egd (for a $300 fee) to be sure it had eroded after the fluoroscopy showed the contrast flowing around the band and the third for band removal. Business with them cost me a fortune.
I didn't save any money what-so-ever using them for the band. They would only do what I would pay extra for, they certainly didn't go out of their way to make a single thing right for me in anyway. I felt like I was at the mercy of greedy bandits. There was no way in hell I was going to let them do my vsg.
The office is in a very old building that they have tried to 'class up' a bit but all of their equipment is older. The clinic where they did the procedure was very clean and very pretty, but again, the equipment was older.
The grand hotel is not 5 star as they call it. It is about a 3.5. However the shopping there is fun. All the kitzchy touristy items can be had for cheap if you're open to bartering.
I considered Mexico again for my vsg, but I looked at the 2 Dr. A's and Especially considered Joya...how cool would it be to recuperate in puerto vallarta?
I settled on Pleatman in MI because he is closer, he answered email super fast. Was very patient with all my questions, and his patients all like him and I didn't have to pay a fortune for traveling, passports etc...I'm glad I chose him.
BTW: Google Verboonen, he has a criminal record for falsifying records and insurance fraud. He didn't do my band because little did I know, he was in prison at the time.

I don't have any info on the docs in Mexico, just be very careful. Check out www.state.gov and read about Mexico. TJ is a very scary place right now, I live in San Diego and am too afraid to go there right now. I would go to Mexicali, PV or Accross the border from Eagles pass. I think 39 were killed last week in the ongoing drug war in TJ. Police, kids, women, seems they don't care. Hopefully they will get a grip on it. It seems to be really extra bad in TJ. Be careful if you head down there. Here is a link to check out the Travel Alert from the State Department

Havent heard of him.
Which, for a surgery that isnt that popularly performed, and with a large percentage of self pays that go to mexico, thats not a good thing.
Why go to a surgeon that no one knows about when you can get some of the best sleeve surgeons that are well known?
