Frozen Coke (7-eleven Slurpee)

I have been looking around for some information on whether or not Frozen Cokes from 7-eleven are good for us.  I used to drink alot of pop before my surgery and I am craving some of my old habits.  I have found that I can drink slurpees with no problem, but I am wondering if I am doing any harm to myself.   I am also wondering if they have any carbonation in them?   I am guessing a little bit, but I am unsure.

If this is a bad thing, what is a heathier choice?

I know here we have MAC's store, and they have a crystal lite type of juice stuff that they make in slurpee form....they are really nice on hot day...I am sure if we have that in Canada, you guys down there must have them too.

I'd love to find that around here.

Yes I have seen the  Crystal Light ones, but they always have weird flavors.

I just made a no sugar added pineapple in juice blended with ice only slushy last night...it was good ...and probably a better choice than sugar pops with carbonation in them.

I see we are surgery twins.

I comletely agree, the coke slurpee is a bad choice.   Its something that I need to work on.

That is way cool that we had our surgery on the same day,  I lost 15 pounds the first week after surgery, I thought the scale was broken.

Other than they are full of sugar and HFCS, empty calories?!

No they aren't healthy and if I were to have one it would be in the summer and maybe only have one for the year.

A healthier choice would be getting a naturally flavored water freezing it and getting an ice shaver and shaving it into a snow cone.

Although I think those that ask if whether or not something is "good for them" probably knows it isn't good and is looking for validation that they can eat it. My 2¢ though.

You are absolutely correct, I know they are bad for me.   Thank you VERY much for being honest and calling me out on it.

I have a snow cone maker and tonight I shaved ice and used crystal light fruit punch.  The consisitency isnt the same as a slurpee, but it has no calories.   Not to mention, it seems like a fun way for me to ge****er in since I have been struggling with that.

Remember.... the sleeve is a tool we use to work on those pesky habits.  Of course Coke isn't "good" for us, it's quite bad for us.

What if you replace it with something better for you?

Believe me, I understand the cravings.  But the idea isn't to figure out a way around the bad stuff, the idea is to develop better habits.  I'll bet you if you leave the coke alone in a couple of months you won't even like the stuff anymore.

I think my food addiction is getting the best of me.   In fact, I know it is.   Definitely looking for ways around dealing with my small stomach.   Although I have been going to a counselor each week trying to deal with the emotional side of my eating - I have been hesitant to do what she recommended - go to Over-eaters Anonymous.   After reading yours and other posts, I realize I still have my food addiction and I really need to address it.  Thank you for not comforting me or saying the right thing that I would most likely want to hear.  You were honest and truthful about what I was doing and now I need to address it myself in order to move on from it.

Thank you.   Traute
