I dont know what to do.  It seems that since my surgery I cannot tolerate any of the RTD protein shakes.  About 5 min after drinking just alittle my stomach hurts so freaking bad.  Feels like heartburn.  It generally goes away in about 10 min.  Nothing else I eat or drink makes me feel this way..this is such a bummer cause I love the convience of the RTD shakes.  The one I had a few moments ago was Muscle Milk Chocolate Malt.  Any suggestions?
Thanks so much

Are you drinking these early in the morning?  Usually in the mornings our new stomachs are tight and a little uncomfortable.  Most people find that WARM liquids feel better and loosen up the tightness.  Maybe you could have a cup of decaf coffee or tea and then try the protein drink?  I am 4 months out and still have to limber up my stomach in the morning with 2 cups of decaf before I can eat or drink anything else.

How do you add the protein to the tea without it clumping or not mixing well??

I am almost 7 months out and still can't drink cold drinks in the AM.  Do you know if you can heat the RTD shake to make it like hot chocolate.  That may work.  Otherwise try drinking them later in the day to see what happens.

Its not just in the morning that I am having this pain with the protein shakes.  I get it anytime I have one.  The homeade ones dont seem to bother me as much.  I am beginning to believe that there is some sort of additive in the RTD shakes that i am not tolerating..but what??  Isnt that the same as a homeade shake?  Guess I will just have to bring blender to work.  LOL

Some folks become lactose-intolerant after the sleeve.  I was mildly so before surgery but choked down the shakes anyway.  They always gave me a stomachache.  Can you find a shake that isn't milk-based (maybe soy? or rice protein?) and see if that may be it?      --Dorothy

I can't deal with any of the RTD shakes. I think it's probably lactose intolerance related. But whatever it is, they are all gross to me and hurt my tummy.
