Gallbladder Gone!!!
I had my gallbladder taken out this morning and I'm home and resting now. I'm very sore but that was expected. I was only able to leave the hospital if I wasn't experiencing nausea and was able to urinate. I had difficulty urinating but was finally able to. However, I'm still experiencing this at home. I feel like I have to go, but can't. I was able to go once since I've been home but for all that I'm drinking, I should be able to go much more. I called my Drs office and the assistant said it's normal but if it starts to cause discomfort, I need to go to the ER. Go****'s always something. Anywho, he was able to use 2 of my existing incisions from my sleeve but made a 3rd right above my belly button. I couldn't believe how great I felt when I was in the post op room... that Demerol(misp) works wonders! This Vicodin, however, is not as great. My throat feels very sore every time I swallow and I don't remember it hurting as much when I had my sleeve but it too was kinda expected. Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience thus far. All in all, I think it went better than expected!
Piece of cake girlie. It will only get better from here. It is funny how different doctors have different priorities. Mine never put an empasis on urinating. I didn't before I left the hospital.
Walk a little bit too. You could develop some gas issues with any lap.

Hey Debbie , happy your home and doing well , if you don't mind me asking what happen to make you go and see about your gallbladder , did you have a gallbladder attack, just curious because I have been experience some discomfort and I was wondering if I should be alarm and call my pcp to find out if it might be mines too, well anyway great to hear your ok and doing well
Hey Darline- it started out as just random light stomach aches(been happening on/off for months) I would just contribute it to something I ate. Then, about a month ago- I had severe abdominal pains that felt like one long cramp that would last for up to an hour at a time and the pain would radiate around to my lower back. I saw a gastroentologist and he ordered an ultrasound and that's when they saw all the stones. About a week ago, I had a severe attack that was in my upper stomach and radiated around to my middle back(this was the KILLER one and I was in so much pain that I could barely breath). The attacks would last about 4-5 minutes and come on about every 15-20 minutes. I would get it checked out if I were you.
Glad you are home...3 holes...wow I got 5 with my gallbladder...luck you.
The urinating thing is swelling from the catheter. If you become really uncomfortable, you can go to the ER and they will relieve you. That is what happened to my dad.
In a few days you will start feeling good as new, just remember you just had another major surgery and don't over do it. Eat light the next few days, nothing greasy or spicy. I know they told you that, but I am kinda a mother hen. Take care and get some rest.
