6 Month Update- Upset
I was doing great, protein, excerise etc. since most of you know I am relocating out of state in 3 weeks, I kinda got off the wagon, and been busying doing things at home and had a hard time getting in my protein.
I went to my 6 month appt. My doctor PCA said I should of lost a total of 90-95 since surgery. That I am about 10-15 pounds off from the mark.
I FELT horrible.
Yes I reconize I haven't done as well as I wanted to the past 3 weeks, just been so busy with 2 full time schools, moving, packing, finding a job, selling everthing. I had to let go of excersing I was getting to tried.
What do you think?
Had RNY on 8/8/2012- revision from Gastric sleeve in 12/2008-
LOST 5.8 POUNDS POST-OPT
It is how you feel about how you have done that is important.
Your average is 12.83 pounds a month. If I remember my stats right, the average weight loss for VSG is between 10 and 20 pounds a month. It doesn't matter what end oft that scale you are on...what matters is you are there!
100 pounds down...77 since surgery! That is wonderful. Forget that person, and don't let them live rent free in your brain.
Good job
Idgett
All of the long-term studies on the VSG show roughly a 60% (well, 61%) EWL long-term. So, for somebody who needs to lose roughly 150 pounds, we're talking 91.5 pounds. That's not at 6 months, that's at 12 months and beyond.
You are doing great. Don't let a PA, doctor, or anybody make you feel otherwise.
Lap-Band June 14, 2001. Dr. Rumbaut, Monterrey, Mexico.
Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin. I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby. 5 years out from revision to VSG. Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(
disclaimer: this is gonna sound condescending as hell but i agree with idgett. between the 2 people in your office you should be listening to, go with the one who went to school for 8 more years. or how bout just go with the one who went to school.
losing 100 lbs in whatever time frame is your accomplishment - if you have to see her before you leave tell that pcA to kick rocks.
I believe that some WL surgeons want to be able to report numbers that show that their patients lose at X rate, and sometimes IMO they push too hard to get those numbers where they want them to be, without taking the patient's feelings in to consideration. The fact of the matter is that this isn't a sprint, it is a marathon. When I see people who are basically bragging about how fast they've lost I just sit back and think, they don't see the big picture. Sure, it's nice to lose quickly, but the real measure of success is if you can keep it off, long term. So as long as you're doing what you should be doing (or at least as much as possible, considering your cir****tances) and you're committed to a healthy lifestyle long term, F what the doctor says. That's just my opinion. People lose at different rates and you can only do the best you can do. It makes me angry when I see people who have made such great strides toward getting healthy upset by their doctors who say they haven't lost enough weight. It's not right and it's not true. If you've done your best then you've done all you can do.
Just sayin....

I don't think this is a fair statement! Everyone here has the right to 'brag' about any successes they have! I don't think it is a case of "I am better than you are" or "I don't see the big picture like you do..."
I want to encourage everyone to brag, show off, jump up and down with every big and little thing you do to improve your health and self confidence.

I LOVE to hear and see your results!! Please keep them coming... Brag away, you deserve to!
All the best everyone,
Cindy
