"Unflavored" protein mixes

So I've tried a couple protein drinks and don't particuarly like the flavors. They both have that same bad, protein taste. I was just wondering, do the unflavored powders have that taste too, just without extra flavoring? Or do the unflavored ones actually mix in and hide well with Crystal Light, etc?

I don't know how I'm gonna get my protein in postop during the liquid phase.

I'm having the same issue.  I tried the Unjury unflavored mixed with my Propel water.  While it didn't change the taste at all, I couldn't overcome the smell.  My DH drank it with no problems, however.  It did change the color of the water to a cloudy white color.

Have you tried Isopure, a clear liquid protein drink available at Vitamin Shop and GNC.  At Vitamin shop you can buy one bottle and try it before committing to a case.  I use the Unjury protein powder (unflavored) and have pretty good success with it.  It does not smell like vitamins.  In fact, I cannot smell it at all, which is a good thing.  I do think it leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste, but I can handle that.  I just can't stand it if it smells like vitamins.  Impossible.  Hope you are going to find "the one."

try mixing a tsp or two of sf pudding in with the protein ( I put it into a blender with some milk, an ice cube....)

you tried some protein drinks and they tasted like protein?... that's horrifying!

hehe, just kidding.  they will all have a little bit of an after taste to them.  people have found different ways to mask the taste somewhat, but the bottom line is protein is going to taste like protein, especially in liquid form.  I was using Isopure clear liquid drinks, they taste better really cold, but go down easier at room temp. at least, for me they did.

i feel for ya, hon.  I went through the same thing.  just know that it isn't forever.  soon you'll be on mushies and/or soft solids and things will get WAY better.  now that i can do soft solids i dont even think about liquid protein, in any form, no protein shakes, clear drinks, or bullets for me.  i'm taking it all in with "natural" protein found in tuna, salmon, chicken, and corned beef.

I have never even tried mixing the unflavored protein into something like water or flavored water - I can't imagine it would be good at all. I do, however, prefer to mix unflavored protein with my milk and NSA Carnation instant breakfast; I think it tastes MUCH better than the actual chocolate flavored protein mixes.

I can't even get all the little bits of protein in the Special K2O drink mixes to mix into plain water, and that's only 5g of protein.

I use GNC unflavored protein powder and I mix it in all sorts of stuff. I don't think it changes the flavor of anything I mix it with. I don't notice any smell to it either.

I like the unjury very much.

I have heard a suggestion to put your drink in a cup with a lid so that you don't smell it.  Hopefully that will help a bit!

I have the same problem.  I just got some sample packs of Chike and it's not too bad.  Love the banana.  I mix it with skim milk and ice and then pour it into a frozen cup...you know the kind that has the liquid in it and you keep it in the freezer...that makes it like a frosty and easier to tolerate.
