How many Cals??
At 3 weeks, we were to have up to 900 calories. (I would often have a little more but that's just how I preferred to do it.)

Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Hi Mandi,
Mine says 550 -700 cals... but never tells me when to up them after that....
I can never get anywhere near 700 cals in yet, unless I eat stuff I shouldn't.
I would like to know when I am supposed to increase that? I guess when my swelling goes down and I am ready? But then by how much??
I will have to email my Dr...
All the best,
Cindy

I used a protein powder called Syntha 6 and it has 200 calories per serving. If I use milk to make it that adds another 90 calories for a total of 290 calories and 35 grams of protein. So if you have 2 of those a day it's almost 600 calories right there. I don't need to do that anymore now that I can eat enough. I am 5 months out and eat between 800 and 900 calories per day. I also exercise a lot. Hope this helps.

Most of yall are fairly new out post op.It won't be until the swelling in the stomach goes down (two months?) that you can even think of getting in a lot more than now, so the key early on is frequent meals, or protein drinks between your meals to get your calories high enough. Yes, my surgeon said 600-800, but I feel that's really low to get the nutrition in, so I shot for more than that.
First couple of months I'm sure I was between 600-800 a day. At 8 months out I realized my body needed more than 700-800, so I increased to about 900, and at 11 months out, I eat probably between 1050-1250 a day on most days.
Everyone is different, and I don't see that the people that eat more calories (in a healthy way) are losing less weight than those that are eating way fewer. I didn't want speedy and unhealthy weight loss, I wanted to adopt a healthy relationship with food and get in adequate amounts of nutrition. It's worked for me! Good luck to you.
