I agree with everyone else..they are both EXCELLENT surgeons.  I went to Dr. Alvarez and he and his staff exceeded all my expectations.

I went with Alvarez because it was an easer drive, since my sister lives in a texas town thats halfway between where i live and Eagle Pass, TX, and because his hospital is less than a mile from the border, which i thought was important, didn't want to venture too far into Mex. also, i read all of his patient reviews at Endobariatric.com and found each and every one of his patients recommended him so highly that i was very confident in my decision, and i'm glad to say i was not let down when my time came.  i had ZERO gas pain, ZERO bruising around incision sites, he has excellent bedside manner, i recovered very well and very quickly, was up and walking about 3 hours after they woke me up from the surgery and feeling great.

I completely agree with Carmen, Sarose and the others about Dr. Alvarez.  My husband and I both underwent the VSG surgery on 5-29 and could not be happier.  The treatment we received from start to finish was WONDERFUL!  Both of us HIGHLY recommend Dr. Alvarez for the VSG surgery!!

Please PM me with any specific questions you may have.

I think you will be happy with whoever you choose.  They are both highly recommended surgeons with many happy patients.
Good Luck with your choice!!!!!

I also had it narrowed down to the same 2 surgeons, and for me the decision was easy.  I am a revision from band, and Dr Alvarez's contact person told me that I would have to have my band removed first and wait 5 months before I could get the sleeve with him.  That was unacceptable to me since I have steadily gained weight since my band has been completely emptied due to a slip.  With Dr Aceves I will have the band removed at the same time as my VSG.  I also checked into cash pay prices in Houston and had difficulty finding a surgeon who would do surgery on me with a low BMI (although it's getting higher as time is passing, LOL!).  Dr Aceves accepted me because I need wls to keep off the weight I lost previously when my band was working well.  So, my situation is different than a lot of folks on here, but I don't think you would go wrong with either one.
