4 days out - nyquil ok?

I'm 4 days out (and I have a bit to say about my experience later), and I have this really annoying and pretty painful cough (painful as in ouch my stitches!) plus a runny nose. I asked one of the doctors what i could take for it and the answer wasn't really clear - anything over the counter? I'm just wondering if I can take Nyquil with my pain meds (ketorolaco - whatever that is - every 6 hours). Think Nyquil would be ok?

I would not take it with your pain meds - I'd take one or the other - but check with your doc.

So sorry that you are not feeling well along with having to recover from surgery!  But, I would not take the Nyquil without talking to your doctor - it is mostly alcohol and I think would do a number on you - especially if you are on pain meds!  Hope you feel better soon!

Call a pharmacy! They can tell you - I always double check things with the pharmacy even if the doctor say it's okay. Good luck!

I had a bad cold a week after getting my sleeve and did take NyQuil, but i was not on pain meds at that time. I don't think you should take both at the same time.  Best of luck  to you

I don't think alcohol would be good on a healing staple line. You would not want to pour it on a healing external cut.

There are other cough suppressants without alcohol.  Call you surgeons office as this is a normal problem of people getting colds soon after surgery.

Did you call your surgeon and ask? or PCP?  The surgeon should be able to tell you exactly what you can and can't take.  Tylenol based things are probably better.  But with the new staple line, I'd not take any cold medicine.  I'd stick to the pain medicine.  Maybe it'll knock you out so you can sleep and heal???
I know that the pain med I had said not to take tylenol with it (it had it in it) so you have to be careful what you mix with it.
