Supplements after surgery

If you are post-op, what supplements are you taking now after the surgery?

If you are pre-op, what supplements have been told you'll need to take?

I had an appt with my NUT and the list she gave is pretty much the same as for someone
having had an RNY.

I thought that we didn't have to take all those things with VSG. Am I misinformed?

The only thing that I have done is take b-12 liquid every morning.  My wife hasn't taken anything from the beginning and we both have excellent labs.

The only things on my list from the surgeon was a multivitamin & iron (for menstruating women).  Anything else would be on an as needed basis.

Here is what I decided to take post-op:

Multivitamin
Iron
Sublingual B12
Chewable Calcium Citrate

If any of my labs indicate a deficiency in anything I will supplement then.

I take a multi-vitamin and calcium - both of which everyone should take, even normies. I also take a hair and nails vitamin, but that's just cause I want to. When I remember, I take a B complex, but not more than 2x a week.

What did your NUT say to take?

Thank you I was wondering the same questions.

Should pre ops take iron as well or only post ops?

I take a daily multivitamin for women right now. I am very pre op, still dealing with insurance.

My NUT said I need to take Flinstones vitamins, Iron, Calcium and B-12.

From the way she said it, it's something I have to do for life. I can see myself doing the Flinstones and Calcium cause I already take them as it is. But to have to take the other two seems a bit much.

I take one One a Day for Women in the am (It has iron in it so no worries there) & one Nexium at night. (Acid reflux) The dr said Nexium for a year and then we shall see if I need it after that. Pre-Op, nadda. Good luck to you!
