Hi. I am about 2 months post op and feel pretty good. I healed pretty quickly and got back to a normal  routine pretty quick. For the most part Im great but I do struggle with alot of foods. Im not drinking my water like I should be, or taking my vitamins, or getting my protein in..  Alot of times when I eat I get extremely bad hot flashes and nausia. Is anyone else having this problem??? Everything I eat makes me extremely tired. I have to lay down for about 10 minutes and then Im good. Im not really concerned, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Also I am not getting my protein in. I try to eat fish, chicken, and tuna as much as possible but im still not even coming close. I have tried to extremely gross protein bullets and gagged them right up. I tried Muscle Milk  and another protein shake from Walmart which also made me throw up. I have horrible gag reflexes. Is there any protein shake out there that doesnt taste like total crap??? I have heard a few good things about the lean desserts. Any advise would be greatly apreciated!!

Hey there, one of the reasons you might be getting the hot flashes and nausea is if you eat too quickly. This has happened to me a few times and this has taught me to slow down when I eat.
As for the protein issue, I am in the same predicament as you. I am only on my second week and HATE HATE HATE all of the protein shakes I've had so far, even the unflavored has a weird taste. I am on mushies/purees and can't think of ways to get as much protein as needed. I hope we find the answer to our issue.

Good luck!!!!

Hi ladies,
I had a horrible time with the protein drinks...I bought an assortment of the nectar drinks and UGHGH  have most of them left!  i did find a premade shake that has none of the "whey" smell and taste..Not cheap..but I figure that one a day still doesnt compare with the cost of food that i'm NOT eating!

I tried the vanilla..and don't dig it..have not tried strawberry..but the cookies n cream and choc are great.  I've had friends try them and they say that it tastes good too...( so its not my warped taste buds!)

I bought the unjury unflavored powder too.  It does have a smell..BUT if mixed with dairy products it seems to disappear.  I mix it with greek yogurt, Sf pudding and Sf hot choc (less than 130 degrees)...

Best of luck..this is the hardest time!  It gets sooooo much better!

i really like the premier protein ready-to-drink shakes from costco.  30g protein and 1g sugar, and it tastes like a nice chocolate milk....  i prefer it to any of the protein shake powders i've tried.....  my son even likes it (i have to yell at him if he takes the last one without putting it on the shopping list!)

good luck finding something you like.... don't give up!!

I too like the Premeir protein shakes from Costco. They do taste like chocolate milk!

If I drink my protein shakes too fast, I also get hot and nauseous=(      I am much more careful now.

Good luck!!!

You may be lactose intolerant.  Check your protein drink to see if it contains milk or milk solids.  Try something lactose-free or soy-based and see if you feel any better.  Some people use the unflavoured Unjury for protein powder and they add it to water and crystal light.  I use a similar product from ALL MAX called isonatural.  It's flavourless and mixes into pretty much anything.

Also, I would add an omega 3 fatty acid supplement, as well as a Vitamin D3 supplement.  They will both help with mood, with weight loss and with maintaining muscle as you are losing weight.  I promise - if you can remember to take those, you will start to feel better in a week or so!

You can get the omega 3 supplements in chewables too, so they are less disgusting to take than the giant pills or gross liquids, lol!

You are doing great - your weight loss is steller hon!  I hope you are feeling much better soon,
Hugs!

I had a horrible time finding a protein drin****il I ran across "Oh Yeah" protein drinks....they are Ready to Drink, and are yummy, plus lactose free......making them easier to digest.  Plus, one 14 oz bottle is 32 grams of protein.  During my mushy liquid phase, which lasted for 3 months due to some complications....I drank two of those drinks a day and I was getting my protein in.  And they didnt have that gritty texture either.  You can get them at GNC, 5 flavors...Choc, Van, Strawberry, Banana Creme, and Cookies and Creme.  You have to buy them in a case, but the nice thing at GNC is if you dont like them you can bring them back for a refund.  All of that being said, you may not like the taste, as each person seems to respond differently to these dang protein drinks....but I would at least give them a whirl...you have nothing to lose if you dont like them!  Just take them back!

GNC pro performance 100% whey protein.  Doesn't have the nasty taste of other protein powders.
