I wonder what it is about eggs?  They are usually so well tolerated and people are advised to eat them on soft diets.  I've tried them every which way.  Can almost eat them poached, but fried, boiled, egg salad, omelets, etc. barfo.  Can't even choke down a second bite.

I can eat any damn thing I want...oh wait, that's probably because I haven't had surgery yet.

BUT

I was under the impression (obviously misguided) that with VSG there aren't food issues like there are with lap band or RNY.

I'm so disappointed...

On the upside ,  glad to know ahead of time that if I purge something, it probably isn't something to worry about.

Now if I could only choose the foods that I won't be able to tolerate............

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

So far there are two things that dont agree.........oatmeal and tequila.......the one sits like lead.....and the tequila messed me up for days....even though it was only one stupid sip that I tried over the holidays.....oh well, no breakfast or boozin for me!

Do you make your oatmeal thick?  Maybe try it thinner more like a soup?

Things I've tried that made me throw up - peanut butter, cauliflower, scrambled eggs.

I started at 324lbs and a size 26.  After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011.  My second daughter was born in September 2013.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs.  I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter.  The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls.  My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.

You are definitely right that it lets us see what's in store!!  I'm three days into my pre-op diet and was wondering if I was ever going to be able to eat again...LOL  What's funny is my NUT gave me a few ideas on meals with rice for about 5 weeks post op but it seems to be a problem food for a lot of you.  I LOVE rice but it's good to be pre warned that I need to be careful with it in case it ends up being a problem for me.

Of course with all the comments about double cheesburgers, chili cheese fries and ice cream I can't seem to suck this Atkins shake down fast enough.

I can't tolerate more than a few bites of soft bread. Rice and pasta are ok in very small amounts. I've had a few bad experiences with both so I'm a little averse to them at the moment. Which is probably good, since I've got a lot more weight to lose! Potatoes go down smooooth, though - or maybe I'm just better at controlling how much I eat of them...

I hadn't had ANY trouble with anything else - meats, nuts, whatever, until I tried this homemade salmon jerky...my aunt is NOT a talented salmon jerky maker...I swear to god that sh*t sat in my stomach for a week!

But 4 double cheeseburgers? 2 lbs of fudge? No prob...whatchoo talkin bout, Larry?
