Hi all,

I had vsg on june 23 2008. I started at 270 and I am currently at 161.5. However I have had about 10 episodes of chest pain. I have been to the er and they just dope me up and say that it is unexplained chest pain and to follow up with my pcp. since june of 2008 I have had gallbladder surgery, 4 endoscopy's,stress test, nuclear myocardial purfussion studies, EKG, Echocardiogram and I am in the process of scheduling an angiogram. Dr.'s have told me that I have numerous possibilities causing the chestpain. They say I developed panic disorder, esophogeal spasms, tricuspid regurgitation, mitral regurgitation, GERD, coronary spasms. so as you can see I am frustrated. If anyone has experienced "unexplained chest pains" since having vsg please write me back with your input. I am now takning 40mg of nexium twice a day, 10 mg flexeril at night before bed and Zanax prn for anxiety or chest pain. Now today I was prescribed nitroglycerine in the event of chest pain.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

christy

Hi Christy

I get chest pain evertime I over eat, don't know if that is the problem for you bu****ch it. Mine starts as a small pain and if I keep eating it really hurts.

Good luck!

thanks for replying,

My chest pains wake me from a dead sleep and my pulse is usually racing. I never eat at least 3 hours before I go to bed. My mom said I may be over eating so I will try to cut down my portions and see if that helps, but this has baffeled me to death.

I am so sorry for your pain.  It appears that you have had many tests.  Do all of these tests cover your heart's health?  I am also concerned about all of the amount of medications you are taking.  The Xanax is for anxiety.  You are experiencing anxiety?  If so I can understand why!.. I am 4 months out and had discomfort in my chest twice but it was while and/or right after eating.  It subsided when I stood up rubbed and tapped my esophagus and walked raising my arms up and down.  I don't want to alarm you in any way but this sounds serious.  It concerns me that this has started so long after your surgery.  I would continue to seek medical help and perhaps get second opinions.  Please keep us posted.  I would also be careful of taking xanax although it relieves anxiety it is short lived and when it wears off the anxiety returns with a vengeance, at least that has been my experience.  I wish I had more definitive answers for you.  Keep us posted I pray your chest pain problem will be identified and resolved.

Do you still have your gallbladder? I used to get them very bad before I had it removed. I do have chest pains now. I had my VSG two weeks ago. It happens when I'm full and sometimes I just need to burp. I also have GERD and I was on nexium before surgery and still take it twice a day.
