Flonase/Nasonex post-op anyone?

I am having horrific allergies and sinus issues. I normally have zero issue resolving these problems with Zyrtec once a day. However, for the last 5 days, I have been miserable.

It started Thursday night just a tickle in my throat and itchy eyes. Started taking meds immediately. By Saturday, BAM, full blown sinus drainage, cough, ickiness, fever. Fever has been gone since Sunday night.

Anyways, I am going to call my PCP tomorrow for an appointment. But, I wanted to find out anyone's personal experience post-op with Flonase or Nasonex. I used both of these in the past pre-op, and I know our stomachs have zero medication restrictions. My sleeve fills up with mucus which doesn't move quickly thus causing me discomfort with eating anything of substance for the last 3 days. I don't want to cause any further issues because inevitably nasal spray will run down the back of my throat just like the nasty sinus drainage.

I just want to know if anyone has any experience using either of these products post-op?

I have used Flonase for years and have had no problem with it post-op. I use it daily.  I'm experiancing the same symptoms as you. I saw my PCP yesterday. He said mine was a upper respiratory infection. Said alot of people's allergies are really bad right now due to the high pollen counts. I am also using some Mucinex PE to help with the nasal congestion. The Dr gave me Tesslon Pearls for the coughing. Hoping this helps soon!! Good luck tomorrow and hope you get some relief soon!

I've been using Flonase for years and it was approved by my surgeon to even bring to the hospital for post-op use.  I don't notice any issue with drainage from the Flonase post-op.

I too am dealing with the additional seasonal allergies - tis the season!  My PCP has recommended Clortrimiton (sp?) and Sudafed to deal with my symptoms.  Just started so we'll see how that goes.

I use Nasonex and Simply Saline. You might want to look into immunotherapy (allergy shots) they have really helped me!

Thank you. I did the shots as a kid, and swore as an adult I wouldn't go through that again. It's really seasonal for me, and is only temporary. If I suffered more than once a year, then I'd definitely look into the shots again.

I popped a Sudafed tonight in hopes that it dry me up. The Chloratrimeton (Chlorphenarimine) really does nothing for me anymore.

I'm going to call my PCP tomorrow for a RX of Flonase, and get this under control quick.

Thanks so much.

Yeah, I've been using my Sudafed as well... this Rx combines the two so I'll give it a go.

I've tried Allegra and Zyrtec along with my Flonase and nothing... like taking sugar pills.  Sudafed while not great for you... works!  My main issue is deep sinus pain behind my eyes and in my ear.

Here's to relief from allergies for one and all!

I use Nasonex.  I once used Flonase but it was too stong. It dried me out so much that my nose hemorraged.  Ended up in ER with bleeding so bad, it was packed for a week and the worst pain of my life.  Never use that stuff again.
