Ignore the DS crowd.  Who cares what they think?  If they are happy with their surgery, that's all that matters.  Unless they come over here, and spread lies on our forum, don't get your knickers in a twist.

I agree with OM.  I could care less what they think. I am happy with my sleeve, so that is all that matters.

Actually, I posted on the DS forum today looking for some study links - when you want hard core facts and the studies to back them up that is the place to go.  Not only did I receive many very helpful replies but a much needed morale boost also.

The people I talked with today were very helpful, informed and kind. Thanks DS forum!!

I read the thread and while it does get very ugly, the thing that stood out for me was how Elizabeth kept stating that we have stomachs the size of a bic pen refill . So someone please fill me in on how THEIR sleeve is different than ours. Isn't the VSG half of the DS procedure? Is their sleeve way bigger or something? What size French Bougie is used for a DS versus a VSG?

That said, I am really shocked at how hateful Elizabeth N. is. I actually posted on a "DSers show yourselves" thread where they all posted pics, and told her how great she looks and how much I liked her hair. Knowing now that she thinks we are all "delusional little ****s who don't know how to do basic internet research" makes me wish I wouldn't have. Why can't people just be supportive of each other regardless of surgery choice? There are surgery types that I *personally* think are very bad choices, but I don't go posting threads calling the people who have had them a bunch of ignorant losers.

Ya, they do make our sleeves bigger... We need them to be large enough to get the protein in that is required. The malabsorbing is strong. We get 2-4 oz sleeves.

I have to say, this isn't necessarily directed at you, that I actually liked many VSGers but after reading this thread i am pretty offended. I admit that i can be *****y but the things you are saying about us just aren't true. Seems to me that you guys are doing exactly what you are complaining that the DSers do.

Because I thought I wanted the DS at first, I spent quite some time on the DS board. That gave me the luxuring of knowing who's half-crazy and who isn't. I just ignore the nuts. Luckily, a good 97% aren't nuts and many actually support VSG if someone is wanting a restriction only procedure.

You just have to know who to ignore and who not to. Really, who cares what anyone else thinks about our choice to have VSG? It makes no difference to me whatsoever. = )

p.s. I think our board has its share of nuts also and I have them blocked. It's not surgery type dependent.

There is really no reason for someone who has had a VSG (and who is not considering a revision to DS) to go checking out the DS forum and vice-versa, and your post is only adding fuel to a fire.

Yes, there are some whiny b*tches on that thread but I'm sure they exist on every forum and for the most part their forum seems to be there to support their members.

Yes, we here mostly believe that the VSG is the best WLS, but there is nothing wrong with those with the DS believing the same about their own surgery. I was considering the DS myself (which I still prefer to the RNY) and would have gone that way if the insurance issue hadn't worked out for the VSG, and if in time the VSG fails to or doesn't do the job, I would consider a revision to DS. But for now I am very happy with the VSG.

I'm too old for this high school drama.
Lost 29 pounds in the ten months prior to surgery.  Since my VSG:
