There is no VSG diet program that I have ever heard of that has these as a part of it.  Certainly not for someone that had their sleeve less than a month ago.

Stick to your program.  You have it for a reason.  There is plenty of time for carbs later on, after you reach your goal.  You won't die without them, but you may well get off track if you start eating them.

Who said I wasn't sticking to the program? Who said I would try them now at a couple weeks out? Certainly not I. Are you seeing words between my lines or something?

Most of these low carb tortillas, bread have around 5 grams of carbs. My surgeons program allows for 30 daily once I'm on solids with no distinctions as to where I get the 30 from. That is my PROGRAM so how about you ask first instead of ASSuming? Like I said I WILL be trying them when that time comes. That's better than shoving a donut don't you think? I'll be sure to post if I do so that you can bark at me then mmkay? I know you love doing that.

You didn't even answer my question. I asked who has tried them and when. If you don't have an answer for that question then I don't see why you even responded. You can go lecture someone else now.

Good day!

I see the resident finger-wagger strikes again. Good on you for sticking up for yourself. They are low carb and have protein. They are not a horrible option if you really need some variety for sanity.

 woohoo!! sing it sister!!!

you're talking about low carb options and they're still not happy. unbelievable. these carb nazis. i'm sorry but not everyone can live without breads. and for the record my suggested meals included in the papers that they gave me in the hospital said you can eat bread when you get to soft foods. so this "no bread" thing is not a rule. whatsoever. if you choose to not eat bread, rice, etc good for you. more power to you. but for the rest of us trying to find low carb options, don't get down on us. its not as if we're just gonna stuff ourselves with bread. why does it have to be no carbs or carb crazy? there's a middle ground. depriving yourself of things can backfire. might as well make sensible choices. and thats what you're doing.

good for you! :) and thanks for posting this because its good to know what the best tasting low carb brands are.  i spent all last night looking for lo carb recipes for cornbread and other things. i found that almond flour was an ingredient in a lot of recipes. so i'm gonna check it out.

LOL, Meli. I am a carb nazi, but on myself! And I still eat carbs, but I do avoid bread/rice/pasta/potatoes. Eventually I will try that high protein bread that everybody is talking about (netrition.com has it), but there are other options. I figure I will stick to whole grain breads and away from the pure white stuff. I'm looking forward to making mini-pizzas from the low-carb tortillas at some point, too. I imagine, eating my protein first, there won't be much room for bread anyway, so a bite won't kill me. The only thing I've been afraid of is the carb craving monster rearing its ugly head. I'm a carb addict.

If you can figure out some good recipes with the almond flour (and do check out the eggface blog for ideas like suggested), I hope you share them with the rest of us.

I have not tried low carb bread but I tried a low carb tortilla at 6 months out. I could only eat half of a small one - I melted peanut butter on it. It's yummy. The half was almost too much. I haven't tried it again since I got so full from it.

I will have them for lunch frequently, eat about 1/3 of one with some hummus, turkey ham, and low fat provolone.
Very tasty.

VSG on 07/03/10 with
Nutrition.com has some high protein bread - very good! WesternBagel.com has the best alternative bagels - low carb and high protein of course. They also have alternative English Muffins and Pita Bread. All delicious! I ordered them online, enough to put some in freezer. My husband eats and enjoys the majority of what I buy. I have since found out that some markets carry some low carb bread items. BariatricEating.com has fantastic recipes where you can use these low carb breads. We all understand our daily carb limitations and I follow mine faithfully - less than 30 grams per day.
