Average Monthly VSG Weight Loss .......
Hi Everyone,
New to the site and im loving it so far. I'm in early process of getting VSG surgery and I am hoping it works as well for me as it has for so many others I have read about. It appears that people lose fairly quickly with the sleeve. It seems many of you are losing about 15-20 lbs a month. Is this fair to say? Or is it more or less weight per month that is lost?
I look forward to the replies and getting to know all of you :)

I have heard that on average people lose 10-20 pounds for the first 1-2 months and then 5-10 pounds a month thereafter. Men tend to lose faster, and people who start at a high BMI (above maybe 45 or so) also lose more pounds, but perhaps a similar amount proportionate to their starting weight.
I lost 17 pounds each during months 1-2 and 6-9 for each month after. It all adds up, and looking back, it adds up faster than one would think!
The stats from research would indicate that long term weight loss from the VSG is similar to the RNY, better than the lap band, and not as good as the DS. RNYers may lose faster early on due to the boost from malabsorption.
Good luck in your process and welcome to the board!
