So I just came out of the shower and cleaned around my wounds and as I was looking in the mirror I noticed a HUGE bruise on the lower left side of my belly? Is that normal? Cause I'm all paranoid thinking something else, lol. Someone help answer my question or calm me down

I had a huge one there under an incision.  It is where they take the stomach out.  I will let you know that that spot is the most painful even today.  I'm hoping the pain goes away soon

Some Drs also give heparin shots while you are in the hospital and these can leave very large bruises on your belly. I wouldn't be worried unless it grows or you have other symptoms occur.

Probably from Heprin (sp) blood thinner they used in the hosp or deep bruising from surgery comeing to the surface - While I haven' t had my sleeve yet I have had several laproscopic surgeries and have had that...  If you have pain or fever you should seek med attention.

My surgeon took my stomach out through an incision in my belly button and they must have put clamps on my tummy fat to pull my skin taut enough to make a clear incision into my belly button - I think that's what that horrific bruise in that area was for me.

I also found weird things, like a suction cup bruise on the left side of my back (probably from the heart monitor); a blood blister on my shoulder (probably from an instrument pinch); and other odd bruising here and there.  Makes you wonder how they're flipping you around!

In any case, don't worry about it.  Enjoy the colourful panorama of bruise it will go through!

I too have a bruise under my belly button. It is the only incision that I have from my surgery. My surgeon looked at it and said it was normal and that it would heal in time.

It's from the heperin. I had the same bruises on my lower stomach, caused from Heperin. I'm surprised they didn't warn you about that! My nurses told me that they would all bruise shortly after I got home.

I agree with everyone..it's probably the heparin....My bruise was huge....The nurse kinda yelled at me saying that I should not rub my belly cause of the heparin shots...I never rubbed my belly...when I am in pain I rock back and forth and I must have done it too much causing a gigantic bruise.
