Splenda or Agave

Probably not a good idea. For diabetic purposes, one would want to pay careful mind to the glycemic index. Agave is lower on the glycemic index than honey, so it is not as hard on your blood sugar levels But, not sure how much is too much even with agave. It has more calories than sugar, and still can do a number on your blood sugar. Here is an article that may be helpful.

As said in the above Splenda is an artificial sweetner made from chemicals and Agave is natural. I use Agave from time to time.

I still use Splenda, but at after my surgery, I was given Truvia for my tea and I loved it. Truvia is made from the Stevia plant. I tried the stevia liquid, but could not deal with the taste, Truvia taste different. I'll be switching over to that.

thats really interesting because i don't really like the taste of stevia. it smells fantastic and its great in baking and frosting and such but not in everything. which is why i use splenda for the rest of the stuff.

however you're the 2nd person to talk about truvia tasting different. hmm..i'll definitely give it a try. thanks.

If you are trying to do low carb, you'll want to stay away from Agave and other so-called "natural" sweeteners. Even if they are natural, they will still digest down into sugar in your body. Sugar alcohols often cause digestive issues for many.

I highly recommend stevia, and there are many brands that don't taste great, but I love the NOW brand stevia. I've tried several brands and this is the only kind I like.

thank you! thank you. thats exactly what i'm saying. just because its natural doesn't mean you should be consuming it.

i'll check that out. thank you :)

My surgeon told me to stay away from splenda, he recomend me truvia or equal. There us a big controversy on agave about not being that good for people after all, google it.

I use Splenda and Truvia.  I have tried many different Stevia brands cuz the stuff is expensive.  I recently purchased a stevia brand at Costco (Pur Via) and at home realized the first ingredient was Sugar not stevia so watch your labels. I have come to realize that alot of artifical sweetners mix sugar in to improve the taste and probably to cut the cost. So no name products may not be the better option or ones where the cost seems to good to be true.

I am back to Truvia or Sweet Leaf but I prefer the taste of Truvia. If I have to use more than a small amount of sweetner like in hot cocoa, I will use Splenda as there is no bitter aftertaste.
