If I go to Mexico to get the VSG will Kaiser cover and help me if there is complications?
I am doing the same thing here in Iowa..blue cross/blue shield..same guidelines, and I am just like you BMI is between 35-39, so fat n healthy as well..I am also using Jose Rodriguez and Belite, Joyce called yesterday, I leave for my surgery on May 4!! When will yours be? Anyway, we hopefully won't need any care back home except routine and that sounds like minimal and your PCP can do it! Good Luck!! Keep in touch!!

Kimmy,
OMG!!! lol
I too have Joyce as my rep. She is AWESOME!!! I have been researching Dr. Jose Rodriguez for weeks and can only find WONDERFUL things. I am so excited!! Wish I was leaving tomorrow :-)
I'm only worried about the rick of surgery... With any type of surgery there are risk due to being put under. Keep in touch

I went to Dr Joya in Mexico for my VSG. Since I have been home I have seen my PCP and a Gastro for issues. I don't consider them "complications" I have excess acid that has created an inflamed lining in my stomach. But for all I know some of it was there before surgery. I have been honest with my Drs about my surgery, but I didn't tell my insurance company. They haven't declined to pay anything so far.
I had VSG through Kaiser.. It took a year to finally get the referral but the regulations changed and I was referred. I was also fat but healthy. From what I heard, Kaiser will not cover complications of surgery if it is not done through them. I would try and fight to get through Kaiser because it is a wonderful program and I've heard of many people getting through. Good luck
