QUESTION???
Hi All,
I have a question. My ins co has a rule that you have to be 200% over weight. Can anyone tell me what does that really means? Ok, was weight 229 when my family Dr. first started recording my weight. The surgeon's office recored I was 5' 2 1/2" in.tall. Can anyone tell me what I should be weighting with the 200% off.
I talked to my ins co today and that is all they, need is for my surgeon telling them what I need to weigh. The ins lady told me there was no problem about me being approved if the surgeon would write another letter telling them what my weight should be.
Thank you all for your help.
God Bless
Evie
OK so I googled this for you. Based on your height, your BMI is "normal" between 103-138.5 lbs. So the formula I found was take your Initial Weight minus Actual Weight divided by Initial Weight and times 100. So based on your lowest possible "normal" weight, 103lbs this is how it'd go.
229 - 103 = 126 / 229 = 0.550218 * 100 = 55.02% So that'd mean you are 55% overweight.
I have no clue if this is right, but it sounds right to me.

It sounds crazy to me, my pea brain figures if your ideal weight were 100 lbs you would have to be 300 lbs to be approved, I hope I am wrong and there is more to this formula. This is just simple math, 100 + 200% = 300
There must be something more to it, hang in there you will get the answer soon.
Good luck and sending good thoughts your way.

When you call ins. back, ask for a manager and get her/his first name and last initial and keep it in a notebook with all your notes so you can refer back to. I got so many diff. answers every time I called and it helped to know this little trick. My husband works in ins. for a hospital, learned it from him. Works very well when they ask where you got info from. Also write down the date and time you spoke to someone. You will sound like a lady in charge if something comes back not right and you can whip out your little notebook and say Mr. Bottlestopper told me that my weight needed to be xxx on 3/31/11 at 5:15 pm to be approved.
