Cholesterol
Ok so I got the results of my 3 month post op blood work back today. In reading my results I felt like the 'good student'. everything was middle of the road until.......I read my cholesterol! WTH how is it possible to go from normal numbers to 41 points above normal. I am not a happy camper. So what is it? the animal protein, the cheese, what? Anyone else experience this?

Mine went up, too. I've read that people losing massive amounts of weight (more than 15 lbs) will often have their cholesterol spike for a bit because there are literally fats in the blood being used for energy--this is noticed more with people on low-carb diets, I think. I'm not worried about it. Women tend to have higher levels, anyway.
THis is the feedback that I got from the doctor on Renewed Reflection:
The layout of your gut is unchanged, only the width of your stomach is smaller.
That means that the amount you can eat is restricted, but absorption is not. If your intake is high in fats, than can be absorbed quicker the with a normal stomach, and shoot your cholesterol level higher.
With RNY, part of the section where enzymes that break down fat for absorbtion is removed from the direct route, so, fat absorbtion is delayed and decreased, which makes it easier for the cholesterol level to come down.
Check out you protein-carb-fat balance utilising online food journals such as www.fitday.com.
Try to keep your fat intake below 30g per day. Also, get more fiber in, because fiber binds with fat and help discharge it from your body without it getting absorbed.
I do happen to log my food daily on Spark People and I know for sure that my fat grams are higher than 30gs. Just thought I'd pass this on.

I've never had cholesterol problems before. Mine was slightly elevated at 3 months and off the charts high at 6 months. My doctor said they've never seen this happen in any of their patients... most people's goes down. We went over what I was eating and it just didn't "add up" for being that high. I'm blaming not having enough fiber in my diet to flush the cholesterol out. For now I've stopped eating eggs and I start every day with a bowl of oatmeal. Now I'm pregnant (which raises your cholesterol anyway) so I won't be able to get a true reading until this time next year. Kind of freaked me out because my pcp wanted to put me right on cholesterol meds with how high it was, then we found out about the pregnancy so that was not an option. I'm hoping this all sorts itself out! I don't want to be on meds for this at only 28! Keep us posted on your 6 month results!
