Having the same issues,  my husband comments about all the open bottles of "stuff" in the fridge.  Thank god my son is finishing it up.  Only things I have found that I can handle are hot tea - (mint- lemon or spicy cinnamon)  plain water - or spicy low sodium v8 juice, everything else is either too sweet or just tastes nasty..

I like plain old water with a splash of any kind of juice- haven't had my surgery yet, but just like the taste of it!

Try some of the no calorie natural sweeteners like stevia or Truvia. Or just try a slice of fruit or cucumber in your water. I also like herbal teas like peppermint and licorice. Good Earth (original or decaf) is naturally sweet without adding any sweetener.

I found the best stevia to be  KAL Pure Stevia Extract Powder http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp? id=KA-1963

Others have fillers added or just taste too bitter. You will not need much stevia to make something sweet. It comes with a tiny measuring spoon.

I just got some Sweetzfree.  I ordered it from sweetzfree.com.  Check it out.  It's drops.  1 drop = 1.5 tsp of sugar and tastes like sugar.  It's better than Splenda.  No aftertaste and no calories at all.

I struggle with water too, I've also never been much of a water drinker, but I'm finding that it is becoming more critical since my surgery.
One thing that has helped me recently is crystalized lemon & lime, I found it at a local grocery store but you can also buy it online www.truelemon.com. It has been a huge help.  Lifewater is also good, I like the Triple X flavor, kinda like jello-water.  Another thing that I do is add a slice of cucumber, it really freshens things up. Last summer I grew mint and I'd add a few leaves of mint to my water, which was really really good, I especially love it with the true lemon.
Hot herbal teas are also good. My favorites are Celestial Seasons Red Safari Spice and Peach Apricot Honeybush. I use Agave sweetner, looks like syrup or honey but is a natural sweetner like Stevia.  I also made a blended "russian tea" mix using sugar free packets that I love during the winter.
I'm including a recipe for "Russian Tea" that I adapted to sugar-free and it has gotten me through the holidays and long winter months here in Minnesota. I love the clove and cinnamon spices, makes me feel all cozy.

Russian Tea – Sugar-free

·         2 cups sugar-free instant tea with lemon

·         5 packets sugar-free Orange-flavored drink mix (e.g.Crystal Light)

·         5 packets sugar-free Lemonade drink mix (e.g. Crystal Light)

·         3/4 cup Sugar or Splenda

·         2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

·         1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

·         1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

·         8 ounce package Red Hot cinnamon candies (optional) They aren't sugar free!
