I decided to re-post this response in a new topic post for the pre-surgery folk who are nervous about their upcoming surgery.

I was in the same spot as you 3 months ago....but here's some information you might want to consider...

I work for a medical device manufacturer. We just got done with a 570 patient trial for our device. This device treats stroke patients in the first 8 hours after a stroke. We collected data and this is truly a non biased blind study. Take a guess on what the top two commonalities were of stroke patients??

You guessed it...OBESITY! The other was smoking.

The way I feel, I was time bomb and a stroke might have meant my children I love had to wipe my drool if I had a major stroke. I have a friend who had 2 strokes and a heart attack before she had her WLS.

Did I mention heart attacks, diabetes complications....and so on and so on ...and so on.

Consider this the best gift you ever gave yourself and your family.

Big hugs and best wishes for a HEALTHY life!!!!

Thank you Heidi for that important information, it just reconfirms my decision to have this surgery.  Getting closer to mine and everyday I question myself. Thanks,
Mary

Thanks Heidi, it's good to get a reminder. I think we all know we are not healthy, but for some reason we/I feel like all of the bad stuff doesn't apply to us.
