Stabbing pain

I have a horrible stabbing pain in one of my incisions.  I am 4 weeks out and they are pretty much healed up, but this is horrible and getting worse by the minute.  Anyone else experience this?  I have a call into the doc, but he's in surgery so I have to wait for him.

Well, I have had a lot of surgeries and have also experienced this. I have been told it is the formation of adhesions, scar tissue. Also been told it is nerves reconnecting. So I still don't know. Can you let me know what your surgeon says? Thanks...

no never had that.  Which side? Whi*****ision?  red, warm to touch? if its stitch healin at that incision, gas/bowel ...dunno...really can't comment on anything without knowin more.  Maybe alternate heatpa**** pack  for right now till ya hear from yer doc. I'd call back and talk to HIS nurse.

I had stabbing abdominal pain ( at the sternum) when I have gallbladder attacks ~2hrs after eattin sumthin fatty, only thing I can compare "stabbing" pain to tho.

It is on one of the larger incisions on the right side.  It is fine when I sit, but as soon as I stand up it kills me.   It is not red or warm or swollen.  I had my gallbladder out, but this pain is nothing like when I was having attacks from that.  I'll let ya know when I hear from the dr.

oh ok..that sounds like suture healin!  where they stitch ya up inside that incision (more than likely that's where they pulled yer excised tummy outta and where the main trocar for stapler went in)

You'll get a tight almost spastic sensation....as that tissue heals and tightens up into "scar tissue"..it constricts.

Can ya lie down ok?
I'd pop a tylenol (let it sit in some water..to dissolve or crush so it ain't sittin in yer sleeve whole)...and
do the hot pac cold pac deal. 15 minutes on for each,  and deep cleansing breaths!!!

If this doesn't help, yer surgeon hasn't called, pain too intense ....get to an ER! better to be safe than sorry!

I'm about 4 weeks out too and have the same issue with the main incision. It hurts when I sit up straight for too long, when going from sitting to standing, and sometimes in the morning when I wake up (seems to be from laying flat on my back and not propped up). I also asked my PA about the pain last week and she said it can vary from person to person as to how long they have pain. I went back to work yesterday and didn't do all that great. My chair wasn't comfy and nor were my pants, and I'm exhausted today. Def keep us posted, as it will be interesting to see if they have the same answer.......

Thanks!  I'm leaving work in 5 minutes, so I will do exactly that when I get home!

I spoke to the Dr. last night and he said if it persists to come see him Thursday.  I went home and took a percocet and it did nothing for the pain.  So I have an appointment first thing in the morning tomorrow. He said it could be an infection and if it is he will have to open me back up...yuck!!  I will keep you all updated.
