I chose it because I have Sarcoidosis, which means sometimes if I get a flare up I need to take small doses of Prednisone. With the Sleeve I can still take my treatments, not so with the RNY. Plus I didn't want my stuff moved around much, my intestines are fine right where they are...lol    Good luck to u!

Same as everyone above, plus I get back issues (thin or fat) and the only meds that work for me are high doses of Ibuprofen.. a big no-no with RnY due to the high risk of ulcers. I didn't want to live with a surgery that could backfire on me someday, either with vit def, complications like ulcers, or blockages from an internal hernia that happen with RnY.. that's a huge one.

I also am an over-eater, and I can lose but not maintain due to hunger.. so, the VSG was the logical and safest choice for me. Yes, any loss and maintenance will take work- to me the VSG is a huge odds-evener.

My reasons are pretty much the same as everyone elses!

I'm very happy with my choice.

Same here, but I do have the dumping and I don't take my vit the way I should. I also have GERD preety bad, but my dr is helping me with my nutrition and I am down 90bls in 5 months.  knowing what I know now I'd still do it again.
Let's get SKINNY together!

Malabsortion didn't bother me, I was also in the pipeline for a Duodenal Switch.  My biggest reasons for VSG were that I wanted to keep my Pylorus Valve and try and maintain natural stomach anatomy just smaller.

And all the posts about the Reactive Hypoglycemia from RNY folks had me worried.
