Nystatin Orally 4 days pre-op

Just wondering if any of you had to drink Prescription Nystatin (generic for mycostatin) 4 times a day for 4 days before surgery?

What is it for? I see my surgeon tomorrow. I'll be sure and ask.

My doctor prescribed it for me to start taking orally 4 days pre-op? I guess this will prevent Thrush? Whatever that is

Thrush is a yeast infection. It is very common with WLS and Obesity. I got it in my mouth(post -op) and I was still breastfeeding my daughter when I had my surgery. I got breast thrush as well! It was NOT fun. Nystatin is a good preventative, but there are other more effective measures to prevent/treat thrush. If you are low carbing already then you have less sugars in your blood for the thrush to feast on. :)
