Vitamins...to take or not to take?
VSG on 05/29/13
I'm still learning all the pre-op processes and learning about all the vitamins. The doctor gave me a super long list of different vitamins to take and emphasized that I would be taking them for the rest of my life. However, I see some people on here are not taking all of those vitamins.
Which is true?

Every doctor has his own routine. I took 2 multivitamins per day for the first month or two, then one per day. I take calcium because I don't drink much millk and potassium because it helps the leg cramps - I can't eat bananas.
What is he having you take? If you don't want/need them all, I would ask for bloodwork that would indicate what you really need.

I am taking the same thing as you, I do sometimes find myself at 2:00pm realizing I haven't taken any vitamins and then start there. I am bad some days but for the most part I am doing what the Doc says to do. They are suppose to know best....right?
Find ways to get vitamin rich foods and you may be able to cut down on taking as many as you need right now.
Good luck to you

I take all of those and more. Your doc has given you a good list, better than some I have seen posted.
The thing is,we CAN'T eat enough of vitamin enriched foods to get all we need. that is why we supplement to start with.
Most of the consensus I have seen from those who have been there done that is that it is WAY easier to keep your lab levels up to begin with than it is to try to play catch up after you are deficient.
Why would you want to risk it?
Good luck,
Holly
