OK, another question? Swallowing pills?

We were just discussing those liquid protein tubes at my pre-op nut meeting. She said we could mix them with jello and I came up with making jello protein "shots" out of the mix as well. I think it sounds very easy to get in some extra protein.

I was "allowed" to swallow pills as soon as I was able to drink liquids. Like some of the other posters how you tolerate them is another question. I had swelling issues with my sleeve and even now I have a pill that my doc says is an ok size that feels like it won't go down. So I just cru**** The one that is the size of a mini M&M goes down fine, the others are chewable.

I am newly post op, and as far as my sleeve is concerned,  it's still a little tempermental, so I take all my vitamins/meds during the time I drink my protein shake. For whatever reason it seems to cut down on the sick feeling and nausea that used to occur when I just took it with water. My tummy did NOT like that at all!

Becareful with that one. I think the smaller the pills maybe three months out. But if you are talking about taking those horse size pills consider talking to your health care provider. I got a pill stuck in my throat and had to be sedated for the doctor to take it out.

Oh gosh no! The pills I crush are the circumference of a regular plain m&m, but flatter. My surgeon cleared me to take them right away.

I probably should add that I had a procedure after my VSG to open up/strech my esophagus. My surgeon has checked it since and said it is ok now but wants to check it in a month. I am scared of anything getting stuck with all my issues. So there won't be any horse pills in my future.

But I really do appreciate your comment just in case. I am sorry that happened to you and glad you got it resolved!

I swallowed pills the next day after surgery, I had to swallow smaller ones first largest last and wait 10 minutes between each one. No problems yet.
