Do you eat if you're not hungry....

..... but it's mealtime and you still need to get your protein in? I was in this dilemma yesterday evening.  Mind you I am getting over a stomach bug, but I wasn't hungry at all during dinner time and I was still lacking on my protein for the day.  I wasn't sure if I should make myself eat to get the protein in, or just skip the meal and try to do better the next day.  Well I opted for the latter.  I didn't eat, I just went to bed.  But what's the protocol here for a VSGer? Thanks.

I'm never physically hunger so I always eat because I have to eat. During my losing stage, even when my appetite was completely gone, I still ate because my body needed food for fuel. No matter how not hungry I am, I eat. If I'm lacking on protein or anything else, I eat something as long as it's not to close to bed time.

Yep, all the time.  Have to stay on a schedule to get the protein in.

Thanks everyone! I guess I still have some of that pre op thinking that if I eat when I'm not hungry, I'll gain weight.  But hunger is very rare since surgery.  I'll try to just stick to my schedule and get at least 2 oz in even if when I have no appetite at all.

It is amazing! You wake up from surgery and while you aren't instantly skinny, your whole life has changed. I would eat breakfast and then immediately think "What am I gonna have for lunch?!"

I don't do that anymore. It's 11:30 and I'm about to go grab my 2 oz. portion of pudding not because I want to eat it, but because my body needs it.

I was just thinking the same thing!  My surgery is 5/18.  I'm always starved.

I eat 4 mini-meals daily; at 4 hr. intervals.  I do not snack between meals.  I try to eat at 8, 1, 5, & 9.  I consume about 1100-1300 calories daily - but I burn at least 500 calories w/exercise daily.  My program insists on making sure you body dosen't feel deprived.  I do get hungry, esp. when I'm working extra hard at something.  My weight loss (125 lbs. in less than 6 mos.) tells me I'm doing the right thing for me.  I'm 65 and feeling great.  Hope this helps.
