I haven't been sleeved yet, (2 weeks from tomorrow!) but I can't wait to see my students' faces when they see me in August, hopefully about 60 or 70lbs lighter! How did your students and coworkers react to your loss?

I had mine last summer and people were amazed when they saw me in August.  I have stalled a bit and just gotten back on program this past week or so and lost another 5 lbs.  People are starting to comment that I am looking too thin but I still have 40 lbs to goal. 

Overall, people have been very supportive.  I told a select few about VSG and the rumor mill starts so I would assume everyone knows.  I don't mind them knowing and hope that my experience will help some of them or someone they know adn love.

Good luck on your surgery!  This will be the summer of your rebirth!

I haven't told all of my coworkers, but I'm sure they will see a difference (at least I'm hoping!!) in August! And by next August....I can only imagine! I CAN'T WAIT! LOL

I just had my surgery 2 months ago.  Only a couple of students have noticed a change and some of the teachers.  I'm a slow loser.  I'm excited by the idea of coming back in August and being smaller.  I can't wait to get rid of all by old "teacher" clothes and buy a new wardrobe for the fall

By August, they won't know what hit them! LOL I won't worry about the new wardrobe. Being the biggest of my family and friends, I'll have plenty of clothes to borrow until I'm ready to buy my own!

I'm a teacher and still pre op but I am thinking the same things!  I have lost 40lbs pre-op (315-275) and no one has said a thing :-(

I am in a new building this year though, so I don't know a lot of folks very well... one of my old co workers noticed... so I guess that's something :-)

I dream of possibly hitting onederland by my birthday in October, but I doubt it... it will only be 4 months or so after surgery and will require loosing 70+lbs... it would be great though!

That's the worst.... all that hard work and everyone doesn't notice. But they will after surgery! I want to be down 120lb by my birthday in November... my surgery is in 2wks, so I think that's possible! Wait until they don't see you for 2 months. They will notice in August! Trust me! If they don't your OH family will!

I am a speech-language pathologist, and many of my students have intellectual disabilities.  After the winter holidays, one of my austistic kids would not come into my therapy room, and cried stating he did not know who I was.... He had been out for 3 weeks prior to the winter holiday when his grandmother, who lives in another country passed away---- and I had colored my hair AND lost about 25-30 lbs during that time.  He still states that he likes the old speech teacher MORE!!!!!

I have told only about three of my co-workers about the actual surgery.  One of which was the school nurse, who later explained that she had RNY 6 years ago, and two of my very close co-worker friends.  My co-workers are AMAZED.  I have only lost about 90 lbs (I'm a lightweright) but I have gone from a size 18/20, to the size 6 New York and Company slacks I have on today.

My students...... they are a little different.  My schools are in a very "urban" area..... (THE HOOD....) so I have been asked several times if I had CANCER. One asked if I had AIDS.  The best one was when a 2nd GRADE student stated that her mama said that she heard that MY HUSBAND LEFT!!!!!    (I was speechless.....)

LOL!!!!!!!!!! That poor child! But that had to be a funny but good NSV! And too bad about that old speech teacher. Inform him that she's NEVER coming back! LOL Most of my family knows...I've told a couple of my coworkers. I've told my church family and sorors. Everyone has been supportive and for that I'm grateful. I've decided that I'm just gonna tell people because I'll probably have the same rumors following me. Cancer and AIDS... I expect that... But the 2nd grader's mom talking about your husband leaving?!?!?! That is just too much! Girl, I'm literally over here rolling with laughter!!

From a 18/20 to a 6....that is music to my ears! I'm so hoping to have results like that. With some determination and hard work, I'll make it!

I teach at the college/university level - had my surgery in mid-Feb, classes end beginning of April - so although I had definitely lost some weight it wasn't all that noticible on a day-to-day basis. when we came back in September though? Yeah, everyone noticed a big difference and everyone has been VERY supportive and complimentary. One or two of the professors in the department were hesitant to say anything for fear of offending. Heaven knows, and I do not care, if people are saying anything negative about this behind my back - but I really don't think so.
