I think for most of us, as we get further and further out from surgery, we just don't need the same level of support we needed fresh out of surgery. To be sure, there are exceptions. But for the most part, at a certain point you just find your groove and if it's working for you then you don't come to OH as often seeking support/advice. A handful of us still check in from time to time, though, to see if we can be of any assistance and to share our long-term progress. In my case, I check in on OH maybe once a week or every other week now. But I remember when I was fresh out of surgery and up to about 6 months out, I was on here daily asking for advice, sharing info, and comparing my stats to everyone else. I just don't need that so much anymore. Also, I think a lot of people move on to the maintenance forum, the plastic surgery forum, or just plain move on...
I didn't think, in the beginning, there would be a point where I could go a day without being on OH. I was wrong. I think this is the case for the majority of us.

It took me 8 weeks to tell my journey I posted just now.. I come on here and read and respond to my emails, I also comment on threads here and there like I am now lolol...

I wasn't on because I tired and in and out the hospital, but now I'm trying to walk more.  I don't think it's about being better than, but you do realize that there are things that you missed out on and you would like to catch up too.  I here that a lot especially when watching youtube videos you see month to month updates than nothing! then they come back maybe 6-7 months later that's because it's like a new life, you wanna get up and go (exercise.. clubbing.. dating.. etc)

Just my opinion though.. but I will say I may be one of those ppl that check in as often as possible or atleast 5-6times month when when I get mojo completely back because I use to box and I wanna do that again, I use to play basketball and I want to do that again and I have children that I am going to chase :-))

Stay Peace.. B eZ All..

I think it's a little unfair to assume they are not here because they feel they are better than us.   Maybe they are feeling better and can get around more so they are not stuck on the computer for their only form of entertainment.  I am 7 weeks out and come here a few times per day, but I look forward to the time where most of my day is spent running around.  I have always found great support here so I am sorry your experience is not the same.  I hope that changes for yu and you are feeling like you get the support you need.

You will get to know some of the vets.  They aren't on here as often as some of us newbies, but they have been very helpful to me.  Sometimes they may be posting on other areas of the forum.  And, like Jenijeni says, they may just be busy living the good, free, sleeve life!

I was a lurker here all of my preop.  I didn't even join until I was over a month post-op.  I got heaps of information by using the search engine at the top of the page before I was a member.  You can get to know the vets that way as well.

Best wishes to you for success!!!!!!!!!

There are vets still around here, and definitely still trying to support everyone and get support too when needed. I can only speak for myself, but I lurk daily and post when the mood strikes, I have the time, and it seems my answer can be helpful. I don't post just to "hear" myself talk, yanno? What there a specific way in which you were feeling unsupported? A specific question?

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

I didn't come here very much at all until after my surgery.  For one thing, I only learned about the site shortly before my surgery, and also I was too embarrassed to write anything.

The support has been great!!  You find so much information and inspiration.  And hopefully can bring information and inspiration to others.

I can imagine that at some point I won't "need" this site as much though.  I'll be out whitewater rafting, ziplining and going to amusement parks!
