Just had a thought and wanted to ask this to the people that have already had the WLS and have loss a significant amout of weight? I know everyone is different and lose the weight differently. I read that there is a lot of loose skin that remains after you lose the weight and wanted to know if anyone has had cosmetic surgery and if so if you would not mind sharing your experience with that.I have heard that insurance companies will not pay for that surgery unless it is medically neccessary.

Well, I can't answer that one yet as I am not there.  All I can say is from a couple of friends of mine experience.  One lady got a Total Gymn and uses it EVERYDAY and has very little loose skin. The other lady only did walking and had plastic surgery on her breasts, hips, tummy, and legs. She spent around $30,000 getting it all done here in Oklahoma.  Both ladies look fabulous in their clothes, ( I don't know or want to know naked) haha!  The one that had surgery said BCBS does not pay for any of it and the legs were the most painful.  It seems as if you come home with drainage tubes and have to empty them 2 or 3 times a day. I don't know for how long.  She said she couldn't imagine anyone living by themself being able to have this particuliar surgery.  I work with a gentleman that his wife had surgery and he said the legs are the worst pain and more to do when you get home.  I bought a Total Gymn on QVC for $345 plus s/h and am hoping that I can use it and do without surgery.  I have been told that some people have insurance that will do breast work if you had large breasts and they were causing back problems however I do not know of anyone who their insurance has paid for plastic surgery as the insurance company considers it COSMETIC surgery! Maybe in the future, the insurance companies will realize that it is not cosmetic and is necessary for some people.
Thaaaaat's I know,

I am only two weeks out and I know I will have belly skin, but I haven't had kids yet and will wait for tummy work. But wouldn't mind getting breast lift/implants after I maintain a while

 Hi There,

Well the amount of loose skin you have varies for lots of reason the amount you have to lose, your age and your genetics some people have really resllant skin and it just snaps right back.
I am 49 years old I was 47 when I had WLS I did not have a ton of excess skin but enough that it bothered me. I did not think it would and I always said I would never have cosmetic surgery well never say never. At my one year mark I was 5 lbs below my goal weight and had plastic I had a lower body lift/tummy tuck and breast lift with implants. The total for both surgeries cost me 20,000.
I am very happy that I had both procedures it has taken me an entire year and a half to feel completely recovered from both. Not bad at all just not normal numbness etc.

If I had it to do over again I would do it all only sooner for all the surgeries including WLS.

Best wishes to you on your journey

Cheers

I can only speak for myself, but I didn't have enough loose skin to warrant plastic surgery. My skin has bounced back nicely, although I stil have stretch marks from my pregnancies, as well as my c-section scars and barely visible vsg scars. My insurance would have covered a tummy tuck if I wanted it, as well as arms if I had needed it. Some insurance companies will also cover breast surgery (not augmentation), thighs, or lower body lifts. Some insurance companies will cover none of it...
