Eating Everything In Sight!

You ARE considered "normal."  Most everyone I know did this.  We call it "food funerals."  I have ZERO regret that I indulged in my favorites!  Enjoy cause this behavior will be changed forever (no more buffets, right?).

Good luck on the pre-op nightmare!!

Since I had no pre-op diet....I had about thirty last meals...and took pictures of all. Luckily I found since surgery, I can eat variations of most all of them. For example, I still eat fajita nachos, just pack on the meat and beans and cheese and leave off all the non-protein stuff, which I never liked anyway. The main difference is that I could eat a plate full before and I'm lucky to get 2 in now. I also don't eat the basket of chips and salsa that I would presurgery. But overall my diet is similiar enough not to be depressing. I choose healthier, leaner meats and eat only until I am either satisfied or until I get the proper amount to satisfy my nutrional needs for that day, which generally is about the same.

So while your diet will change and you won't be able to enjoy the deep dish pizzas or the fried everything, you will most likely find some great healthy recipes that will compliment your nutrional needs and satisfy your tastes. I know one thing for me, milk is much sweeter tasting now and I can't drink it straight. But in coffee, 2 ounces to a 6 ounce cup of decaf completly satisfies my head hunger for sweets. I don't even crave anything else. It is like desert all day. I have only had sugary foods a time or two since surgery and only in small portions(except that one time)....

So enjoy your 'last meal' but know that post surgery, you can find enjoyment in your new meals.
