I have my pre-op with my surgeon and anestesiologist.  What should I expect?  The nurse said I would be there for 1 1/2 hours per doctor!  help!?!

There will be lots of questions and explanations of what all will happen during surgery and your hospital stay.  The anesthesiologist will ask things like "do you have dentures/partials", they will look in your mouth, they will describe the entire procedure and answer any questions you might have - same with the surgeon. He will tell you about the incisions, the procedure, what to expect, etc - it's really a very interesting process and nothing to be scared about - in fact you should feel more comfortable about your surgery after it's over.  Good luck to you.

Had mine this morning.  They told me to expect two hours at the surgeon's office and two more with the anesthesiologist.  Here's what I did:

Surgeon's Office
Weighed
Went through basic (repetitive) info with the nurse, B.P. respiration, etc.
Signed forms releasing the hospital, doctor, etc. from any liability whatsoever - forever.
Spent 20 minutes in a "Class" with one other person and the nurse reviewing surgery and post surgery procedures.
Waited for the surgeon
Talked to the surgeon for ten minutes
Got more forms to take to the anesthesiologist.

Anesthesiologist's Office
Met with office person and signed more forms releasing the anesthesiologist and anyone he has ever met, or even dreamed about, from any liability whatsoever - forever.
Reviewed basic medical info - allergies, old medical procedures, meds, exercise history, etc.
Blood draw (basic screening and also so they can have the proper type on hand if there is a problem).
Met with Anesthesiologist for about ten minutes.  Went over the basic medical info again.  He told me what meds to take the morning of the procedure.

Went home.
