I just finished up my 6 months doctor supervised weight loss. I am nervous that I will not be approved because
A-My start BMI was a 39.7
B-I gained a little when I was supposed to be losing (but I am now a 40 BMI)

I have Geha, and I was just wondering how long it took you to get approved for surgery..and if anyone had Geha, how hard is it to GET approved.

Thanks =)

Once I met all the insurance criteria- including the 6 month NUT appointments - it happened so fast I wasn't ready. I don't remember exactly but it was a matter of days. I finished my last appointment the end of January and had surgery March 4.

I think most insurance providers typically get back within a week to 10 days or so after the initial submit.  If you have to appeal, hearing back on that can vary.  Good luck!

Does anyone have Cigna? I finish my 6 month supervised beginning of July. I am getting all the necesary tests done before then so I will be ready and everything can be submitted at once to the insurance company. Did anyone do that and does it help?

I was told that you could submit the doctors supervised first and then worry about the psych eval, bloodwork and in my case a gallbladder ultrasound (something not all doctors require) later...
