I cant say for myself cause I havent had my surgery yet, but I know some black women who have and more less its because she didnt follow the rules she used the surgery as an escape instead of a tool. And now she developed diabetes. Some of our diets contain fried, and high fats and when we have the surgery we dont totally change the eating habit for ourselves 360 degrees as we should for our entire household...we still buy junk food for the kids and healthy for ourselves and we find ourselves late at night eating the kids junk food. My friend is Mexican and I would have never known she had the surgery because everyday she was eating McDonalds as if she had never hadnt had the surgery smh.

I thank God for this site. I already buy healthy foods, but its just the amount I eat and how much is my problem.

I'm not but our center at orientation when asked would state that they wouldn't recommend band because of this.  I am friends with one of the ladies that questioned this and they did have studies and links to show her.

That said, that is just a study and an average.  Non of us have to be average.  We can all be the ones that beat the odd.  I really believe educating yourselves and being here shows you are, is more important than the color of a person.  My friend and I are going to do this together and she says she is going to kick my butt and I believe her.  She is a virgin RNY and I'm a sleeve revision I know she is going to beat me bad.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

This is interesting to me. I'm Brazilian and I have lost 46lbs since Oct. 15th. That seems to be on point with the same rate as some white women on this board. But I'm also younger than the ones them..... Things that make you go hhhmmm!
