Just curious...... the other day I had a burning sensation down my throat when I ate certain things the other day. It was the first time I had these things. Like I had a shrimp from my sister-in-laws stirfry. I tryied a few more things but can't remember what it was. I really want to eat shrimp again but I 'm not sure if it was the shrimp or something else I tried. Anyone else have this reaction? My NUT said I could pretty much eat anything just take it slow. When did ya'll start seafood (not fish)? Thanks!

The Dr. gave me Prevacid to take everyday and that seems to help w/ any burning sensations that I would have if I didn't take it. I've had gerd and acid reflux before the surgery and still have it today but its been much more manageable w/ the meds. I'm careful not to eat anything that might flare it up. The only other seafood I've tried besides fish was crab and it was about 1 month give or take after my VSG. I've also noticed foods that have certain spices don't work well w/ me. Hope you feel better soon!

I use to get that to alot when I first started on regular foods but my doctor started me on the prescription form of prevacid to take first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and that usually does the trick and have had no issues since then.  Also being from Louisiana, I of course tried seafood as pretty much my first form of protein that I ate at about four weeks out.  I find that boiled shrimp go down pretty easily and can usually only eat about 5 shrimp.  I also love snow crab.  Crawfish not so much because since we have to chew so well, their taste gets kinda nasty after a while.  I would definately try a ppi in the morning if you are not already on one! Hope this helps!

I noticed it a lot a first after surgery; it was due to to reflux.  Try something like prevacid; it should help reduce the acid.  apparently after  surgery we tend to have issues with reflex.

You will find using it will help tremendously.
