People with hunger - does a real snack help?

My PA at support group last night was very animated on this topic and how some docs think their patients can go for hours and hours between meals.  As she pointed out, this is NOT the way most people eat.  Her theme was about eating planned snacked versus grazing.  No problems with a planned snack that's worked into your daily menu.  Big problem with a bag of nuts/chips/chocolates on your desk and picking at them all day.

Truth is, this is all a new process for all of us and we have to figure out our own path down the road.  Try some planned snacks.  Bet you they help keep the hunger at bay!

I already feel a LOT better after doing planned snacks for a couple of days :)

I find it very interesting that they would think it's okay for me to go 6-6.5 hours between meals, only drinking milk as a snack (she said I could add protein powder? hmmm... well I did that, and didn't make a difference).  I was in a binge eating program a while ago, and going long without meals is what lead me to binge!!  I would let myself get crazy hungry, and then go out to eat with hubby and we'd both eat way too much!!  Once I forced myself to have planned snacks, even on stressful days, my binging went away....
